Borders Is Bankrupt

Borders logoBorders bookstore filed for bankruptcy this week and announced it will close at least 200 of its 600+ stores across the country, including huge stores in downtown San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago. Although the company will stay in business, for now, a good chunk of its 6,000+ full-time and 11,000+ part-time employees will lose their jobs.

The good news – if you can call it that – is that the stores that are closing should have some “Everything Must Go” fire sales onfire sale image its stock of books, records, DVDs, and miscellaneous stuff. The trade magazine Publishers Weekly posted a list of stores that will be closing, so you can see if one is near you. It’ll probably take several months for the sales and closings to happen.

Sad, huh?
